Authentic
With every word you write you must ignore the part of your brain that wants to edit in real time. When you sit down to write, continue to write. Finish your writing without allowing the outside world or your inner demons to influence the direction. Sometimes the thoughts in your head that tell you to correct immediately or quit, are the thoughts society pushes on you. Once you are finished completely then you can go ahead and edit what the sincere you considers flawed. This is how your writing stays authentic. When you write for you.
Audience
The first and most important member of the audience is you. If it makes sense to you, if it means something to you, then it will more than satisfy those that understand you and have lived a similar life or had similar feelings. When you write, write for you. When you decide to market your writing, think of those who will relate or enjoy your truth.
Hate
It can be difficult to share your soul to strangers, and it can be even harder to share your deepest thoughts with those you love. There will be some that don’t like your writing. There will be some that even use their time and energy to be rude and hate on your writing. Keep in mind though that their opinions are worthless. You write for yourself and the audience that understands and appreciates your words.
Grammar
I know. I know all through school you are told what the correct way is. To write in a way that pleases the educated. I think these people that stress correct grammar and spelling are foolish. Writing is a form of art. Art is the poetry of the soul. The most beautiful art is flawed. When you write it is like painting on a blank canvas. Writing is not about staying between the lines like some sort of coloring book. Free yourself and just write. The Grammar Cops lack the creativity to truly appreciate your soul on paper.
